Top Ten Albums and a Discharge

Posted: October 12, 2011 in Uncategorized

Hi All,

In some really positive news I got discharged from hospital yesterday. If you haven’t seen me since I got admitted, I have calmed down a bunch, the medication has really kicked in; and my mood ongoing is much more likely to be neutral. Thanks to everyone who came and visited, who supported me, who tried to stop me from doing dumb shit. I’m sorry to everyone I freaked out or scared, thanks for riding it out.

I composed a TOP TEN ALBUMS list while inside as well. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list, this is honestly my ten most favourite albums of all time (cbf ordering them):

“Evil Empire” by Rage Against the Machine

My favourite album from my favourite band. Has the obvious hits “People of the Sun” and “Bulls on Parade”; but I absolutely love the back end of the album “Down Rodeo”, “Wind Below” and “Year of tha Boomerang”.

“The Black Album” by Jay-Z

Clearly his best work. Again, I love the less well known tracks on the back end of the album “Threat”, “Moment of Clarity”, “Justify my Thug” and “Allure”.

“Home” by Sevendust

Pumping riffs from an amazing hard rock band. “Denial”, “Waffle”, “Rumble Fish” and “Bender” are definitely highlights.

“Deja Entendu” by Brand New

No words can describe how good this album is. “As of 2003, Brand New had sidestepped any notion that they’d be stuck in the prototypical mold found on Your Favorite Weapon. Unlike their debut, Deja Entendu isn’t all about bitter breakups and doesn’t fall into a permanent punk-pop hole. Produced by Steven Haigler (Pixies, Quicksand), this sophomore effort finds Brand New maturing, reaching for textures and song structures instead of clichés.”

“Master of Puppets” by Metallica

Released in 1986, these guys are still going strong >25 years later. I have been luck enough to see these guys live twice, once at Big Day Out in 2004, and again last year for the “Death Magnetic” tour.

“Coming Home” by New Found Glory

Saw these guys live opening for Sum 41 when I was 16 in Year 11 back in 2003. This whole album is truly hof. Enjoy.

“My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” by Kanye West

Kanye just keeps going from strength to strength.

“Siamese Dream” by Smashing Pumpkins

Very hard to pick the Pumpkins best album. I just love the opening track on this album.

“Vulgar Display of Power” by Pantera

Another heavier band with amazing riffs.

“Enema of the State” by Blink182

The first blink album with Travis Barker on the skins. He takes them to a new level.

Mission recovery

Posted: September 28, 2011 in Uncategorized

Hi all.

Just checking in, treatment is going well thus far. Looking to get off the Seroquel due to it’s terrible side effects; I keep falling asleep randomly! Really enjoying my first real extended break from poker for a long time, can’t wait to get back into it at some stage though. Got some grandiose plans, talking to some people about how realistic they are *watch this space*

Looking forward to continued recovery…

Dress Ups

Posted: September 21, 2011 in Uncategorized

Gonna be dressing up hardcore soon. I have a freakily good memory; so picture exact costumes, line for line movie quotes, and a decent accent, gonna be rocking! I am also keen to take up acting, never was interested in school, now very interested in channelling me inner Skender (in more ways than one).

Will take suggestions but quite to do every single character in Snatch/Lock Stock/RocknRolla to start hehehe.

First few off the ranks:

#1 JOHNNY QUID:  a musician and Lenny’s estranged, drug-addicted stepson. It is implied that he faked his own death after anticipating that the news of his demise would cause his music sales to go up.

Johnny Quid: You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks on the end of the piano?

Pete: Yes.
Johnny Quid: All you need to know about life is retained in those four walls. You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur – the gold packet of king size with a regal insignia, an attractive implication towards grandeur and wealth, the subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your royal and loyal friends, and that, Pete, is a lie.
Johnny Quid: Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion, written in boring bold black and white, it’s a statement that these neat little soldiers of death and in fact trying to kill you and that, Pete, is the truth.
Johnny Quid: Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and i’m addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren.
Johnny Quid: That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet.
Johnny Quid: That is why you and i love the drugs and that is also why I cannot give that painting back. now please, pass me a light.
Pete: Oh you are something special, Mr johnny quid.

Attention Busto University Students

Quote Anonymous Hoodlum circa September 2011: “Watto, I’m gonna bash you, I don’t want your fucking peasant/peon money”. I owed him a significant chunk of money, but he didn’t want a bar of it. I will pay him back, but will have to siphon it into his wallet or some underhand tactic like that.

The picture below shows Zen Master Hoodlum in the middle. Other Hoodlum on the right is possible one of the hardest, grubbiest football (AFL obviously) players the NSW area has seen. Also has a massive mouth as well. my favourite line was (directly before kicking a 40m set shot at goal), “come to uni on monday, bring a pad and pen, and i’ll teach you how to play footy.” Then goes back and drills the set shot. <3 blatant arrogance mixed with talent.

Picture Tony Liberatore mixed with Lenny Hayes and Simon Black and your getting there.

There is a moral to this tale. The fact of the matter is, I don’t fucking remember THAT beer you bought me at the Illawarra sixteen weeks ago. I’m happy to get you a drink, just fucking ask!!! Also, buying a drink is a nice thing to do for something else, It’s also nice when this action is reciprocated; but it is not essential to the drink buying process. Stop being such fucking tightarses!!! I will start slapping people and lighting cigarettes with $100 bills if you tightwads don’t pull your collective heads in. What comes around goes around. Mi Casa, Su Casa. etc etc etc.

Rant Over,

Peace

Hanging in there

I hate these fucking little red pills. Swear I’m better without them.

Trusting enough in my support team to keep taking them, we are upping the dosage daily so hopefully I stop feeling like such a fucking zombie when we hit the dosage big leagues.

If I’ve freaked you out I’m sorry. Just remember I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember, no need for you to treat me any differently. Will accept as many hugs and or kisses as you guys are willing to throw at me. Also, life isn’t a fucking one-way street. Just because I’m a touch fragile at the moment doesn’t mean I can’t be emotionally supportive as well. If you need to talk, you know where to find/contact me.

Peace

PS: “…you see, I have this condition…”

Hi guys. Taking a couple of days off the grind due to mental health issues. I’m not great but I’m not in any danger, and have some really good health care professionals looking after me. Also single as of this morning, gonna be taking it really easy in next few days, not drinking etc. Looking forward to Skender’s birthday in Melbourne on the weekend; will be great to catch up with my “work” colleagues.

Just thought I’d post a few pics in regards to weight-loss. I peaked in 2011 at around 115kg; fairly sure I couldn’t put on any more weight because my diet was the worst imaginable. I gained this weight as a result of taking on a full-time job with part time uni, as well as discovering alcohol and fast food etc.

People always comment that they never believe how heavy I actually am; I’m deceptively skinny hahaha. check facebook for pics.

approx 6 weeks ago: 115kg

this morning: 104.2kg!?!?!

To be honest was very shocked as to that figure this morning, I didn’t think I’d lost anywhere near that much weight. Feeling really positive as I have exceeded all expectations by a mile thus far; hate to see what happens when I really start training! So far have experienced a massive jump in self-esteem/self-worth, it feels really good when a lot of different people come up to you saying how good you look. Have also noticed a ridiculous spike in my libido, I guess this is related to the self-esteem stuff, but it’s crazy how horny I have been lately. Also been sleeping really really well and feeling very refreshed and focused post-exercise. If anyone has any questions, hit me up on Skype; I am the self confessed laziest person of all time; as poker players especially you should all have the money/time/flexibility to lose weight easily if that is something you would be interested in. Highly recommended.

Anyway I’m off to boxing for the 1st training session of the 2012 pre-season; we have to work extra hard because the SCAFL actually hates us:

Interested if anyone can see a valid free kick for any reason whatsoever.
